1. At a glance
PrivateRoute does not require an account, sell personal information, serve behaviorally targeted advertising, or intentionally build a server-side history of your route searches. The app processes location and destination information to provide route comparisons. Recent destinations are stored locally on your device so you can reuse them.
2. Information used by the app
Location and route information
If you grant location permission, the app uses your current location to set a starting point, center the map, and calculate routes. When you type or select a place, the app processes the search text, selected map result, coordinates, route geometry, travel time, and distance needed to provide the feature.
On-device preferences and history
Recent destinations, app preferences, and related state may be saved on your device. You can clear recent destinations in the app or remove local app data by deleting the app.
Data-source records
The app uses records about publicly documented roadside monitoring locations. These records describe infrastructure or public locations; they are not intended to identify individual app users.
3. Apple services
PrivateRoute uses Apple technologies such as MapKit, location services, geocoding, and route calculation. Apple may receive information necessary to provide those services under Apple’s own terms and privacy practices. Learn more in Apple Maps & Privacy.
4. Corrections and data reports
Version 1.0 may provide a way to prepare a correction or removal report. If an online reporting service is enabled, information you choose to submit—such as the location involved, report category, explanation, and optional contact details—will be sent only to evaluate and respond to that report. If the service is not configured, the app does not transmit the report and will direct you to support instead.
Do not include sensitive personal information in a correction report. We retain submitted reports only as long as reasonably needed to review the issue, maintain an audit trail, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
5. What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not use route searches to create advertising profiles.
- We do not intentionally track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
- We do not require a PrivateRoute account for the core version 1.0 experience.
6. Website data
This website does not intentionally use advertising trackers or analytics cookies. Our hosting and network providers may process standard technical information, such as IP address, browser details, request time, and security events, to deliver the site, prevent abuse, and maintain reliability. We do not use those logs to build profiles of visitors.
7. Retention and deletion
Local history remains on your device until you clear it, delete the app, or the operating system removes it. For information you intentionally submit to support or a future correction service, you may request deletion by emailing privacy@privaterouteapp.com. We may retain limited records when required for security, legal compliance, or documenting a data decision.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the information we handle. No storage or transmission method is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
PrivateRoute is a general-audience navigation planning tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child submitted personal information, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
10. Regional availability and international use
The initial data program focuses on Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. You may be able to use navigation features elsewhere, but monitoring-data coverage may be limited or unavailable. If you access the service outside the United States, information processed by Apple or hosting providers may be handled in locations described by their policies.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product, law, or data practices change. We will post the revised date here and provide additional notice when a change materially affects your choices.
